Tamar Housing Society has ambitious plans to provide new homes for local people both for rent and low cost ownership. Schemes are currently being planned in Plymouth, Saltash and Treburley in North Cornwall.

The target is for the Society to develop 120 new homes over the next 5 years. Both the local authorities and the Housing Corporation (the government organisation which funds and regulates housing associations) are fully supportive of the Society's plans to develop. In order to access funding from the Housing Corporation, the Society has joined the New Futures Consortium and will bid for grand funding through them over the next year.

The Society has appointed a Business Development Officer to take day-to-day responsibility for development.
