During 2007-08 Tamar Housing Society embarked on a £1million investment programme to ensure that all its stock meets the decent homes standard. The number of day-to-day repairs is reducing as the Society's programme of proactive maintenance moves forward.
A full programme of window replacement is now underway with many of the major schemes completed. This will ensure that all properties have UPVC double glazed windows, up-graded heating and wiring and full insulation. Carbon monoxide alarms are being fitted in all properties with gas appliances. As part of an ongoing commitment to safety, the Society has implemented a programme to check hot water thermostats and smoke alarms.
The Society continues to monitor and improve completion times of repairs by conducting regular reviews with contractors to continually improve services to residents. Satisfaction rates are high and these levels are monitored on a regular basis.
